The Mighty Mince Series: Beef

The Mighty Mince Series: Beef

It's consistently our bestselling product. In fact, last year we sold over 8,645 packs, which equates over 4,323 kilos. That's roughly the same weight as an African elephant! Yes, our Best Beef Mince really is that popular.

And when we think about it, it's not really surprising: It’s versatile, flavour-packed and proper top quality, grass-fed stuff. In fact we think you can throw this beef mince into pretty much any dish and make it shine.

In this blog we'll be sharing more about what makes this mince so fantastic, where our's comes from and as always, two fantastic recipes to give you some inspiration.

Why Beef Mince?

From Mexican tacos to Italian ragu, cottage pie to keema curry, our beef mince works in nearly every cuisine making it an incredibly versatile ingredient to have on hand.

As the beef is grass fed, it brings a whole heap of health benefits to your diet too. Namely, more good fats, vitamins and antioxidants, as well as being a great source of protein. Not to mention that grass fed beef tastes noticeably better.

You can read more about the benefits of eating grass fed beef here.

We use chuck steak for our mince, which is a beautifully marbled cut from the shoulder of the cow.

And it's made in house to a 10% fat content ratio, which we think it hits the sweet spot between flavour and leanness. But we can make it leaner or richer, to tailor it to the customer's taste.

Where Our Beef Comes From

Our beef is sourced from just outside Guildford, Surrey which is as local as local can be to us. We believe in keeping food miles low and supporting the local economy. This is why we source products from the closest farms we can whilst maintaining our high sourcing standards.

The cows we source are free to roam and graze on pasture. Evidence suggests that animals raised on pasture are less stressed, have longer lifespans, and are less prone to disease.

Not only is sourcing free range and high welfare animals ethically the right thing to do, it also leads to a higher quality product with more flavour.

Batch Cooking Recipe: Aloo Keema Curry

This protein packed curry combines gently spiced mince with satiating potatoes and powerhouse peas for a brilliant midweek dinner. The recipe below serves 4, but is easily doubled to make a couple of portions for the freezer. Add more spice if you like a kick, or top with yoghurt if you prefer it milder.

Handful chopped coriander
Salt and pepper

  2. Whilst those are boiling, heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes until soft and beginning to brown.
  3. Add the beef and garlic. Break it up with a wooden spoon until it's all browned and crumbly.
